Setting up your Colour Space in Corel X4 or less
When you are doing laser engraving or sublimation (sawgrass driver) you need to turn off your colour correction and work in the RGB colour space. In this article we will address this setup.
Create a square in Corel
Create a square in Corel. This is a control square
Select the colour management tab
Select TOOLS (1) | COLOUR MANAGEMENT (2).
Here is the colour management window
Select the pull down menu (1) in the colour management tab
Turn off colour management
In the pull down menu select "Colour Management Off"
Colour management is off
Your colour management is turned off and everything is grayed out
Our Colour Square has changed its display colour
Now look at our control square. The colour is totally different. This can radically change your printed colours in your sublimation.
We need to load the RGB colour space
Select WINDOW (1) | COLOUR PALETTES (2) | DEFAULT RGB PALETTE (3)
We now have 2 colour palettes to the right of our workspace
We now have 2 colour palettes to the right of our workspace. One is RGB and the other is CMYK. We need to now delete the CMYK.
Delete the CMYK colour palette
Go to WINDOW (1) | COLOUR PALETTES (2) | DEFAULT CMYK Palette (3)
We now have 1 colour space
You can see that we only have 1 colour palette to the right of our workspace.
If we check the fill colour on our square it is in RGB
If we check the fill colour on our square it is in RGB
Now we need to adjust our default text fill colour
Select Tools (1) | Options (2) to open the options menu
We need to change the fill of our default text
Select Styles (1). Select Default Artistic Text (2). Than select edit (3). YOu will notice that by default my colours are CMYK.
Our default is CMYK
You can see that our default is CMYK
Select RGB
Select the RGB model from the pull down menu (1)
Our colour space is RGB
We now have the RGB colour space . Click OK
We are now RGB
CorelDraw shows us that we are now in working in RGB.
Now we need to change the default graphic
To change the default graphic select STYLE (1) and than Default Graphic (2) and EDIT (3).
Select the pull down menu
Select the pull down menu (1)
Select "Other"
Select the "Other" tab (1)
Select RGB
As per the colour fill select RGB from the pull down menu (1)
Saving Defaults
We now need to save our defaults. Select "Document" (1) than "Save options as defaults" (2) and than uncheck everything except "Styles" (3). Click "OK"
If we draw a line it is RGB
Draw a line by default the colour of the line is RGB. Double click on the colour swatch (1)
The colour space is RGB
You can see that the colour space is RGB
Our default text colour is RGB
If you type text and select the default colour it is black and RGB.
